Who We Are as a Practice

Practice Culture & Mission

McKee Collaborative Therapy is a small, relationally focused group practice based in Durham, North Carolina. We offer therapy, assessment, and consultation grounded in neurodivergent-affirming, LGBTQIA+ affirming, strengths-based, and developmentally informed care. We work with children, adolescents, adults, and families, and prioritize ethical, person-centered practice that honors each client’s unique identities, needs, and lived experiences.

We believe that good care starts with good working relationships. At McKee Collaborative Therapy, we move at a sustainable pace, hold space for complexity, and trust our clinicians to practice in ways that reflect their expertise and humanity. We’re proud to be known in our community for our warmth, clinical thoughtfulness, and collaborative spirit. As we grow, we seek to attract staff and community connections who share these values.

We’re building a culture where reflection, consultation, and mutual respect are central. We show up with curiosity and care—not just for our clients, but for one another. There’s room here to grow, ask questions, set boundaries, and stay connected to the heart of the work.

Our Values

Collaboration
We believe healing and growth happen in relationship. Our team works alongside each person
and family, honoring their lived experience and drawing on shared wisdom to create meaningful  change together

Inclusion
Every person who enters our practice is met with dignity and care. We value each individual’s unique story and strive to foster an environment where people feel safe, heard, and affirmed.

Connection
We see people as whole beings—mind, body, relationships, and environment all interconnected— with shared and unique needs. Our approach integ
rates these dimensions to support lasting growth and well-being.

Intention
We are mindful and purposeful in our work. From the way we listen, to the goals we set, to the systems we build as a practice, we act with care and clarity in service of those we support.

Humility
We approach our work with openness and curiosity, recognizing that each person is the expert in their own life. We are always learning, listening, and growing alongside those we serve.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Statement

In making a statement on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI), it’s imperative that we:

Acknowledge that systemic barriers exist which marginalize, discriminate and keep people from feeling safe, informed or allowed to access services that would positively impact their health, growth and sense of well-being;

Accept responsibility for our contributions to systems that allow and directly cause these barriers to exist; and

Address these barriers with actionable steps to deconstruct them.

Definitions:

Diversity: Diversity refers to the many identities that make us unique and affect our experiences and interactions with each other. This includes, but is not limited to our differences in race, national or ethnic origin, citizenship, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, income source, age, and mental or physical ability, as described in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR).

Equity: Equity refers to fair treatment, access, and opportunities for all individuals. To produce equity, we must address the unequal conditions and positions of people and communities, created by historical and systemic barriers.

Inclusion: Inclusion refers to an environment where everyone has the opportunity to fully participate, and each person is valued for their distinctive skills, experiences, and perspectives.
